sooooo lets talk about college.

i love it.

on mondays i have uncle stan.

(clarification, we call our teachers 'uncle <insert name>' because they're awesome and we have small classes so we all know them very well)

on mondays i have uncle stan. he teaches us television operations which lets us learn how to use the switcher, the CCU's (camera control units), the VTR (video tape recorder), the audio board, Inca Inscriber , camera pedestals and other less fun stuff, like the prompter and the bulkhead and really complicated stuff like the CER (central equipment room).

on tuesdays i'm with uncle randy. he teaches us audio and video post-production. definitely one of my favourite classes because i get to edit and create soundtracks for old clips and make foley sounds and we even talk about mics and anything related to audio (my passion!).

we also have uncle peter. he teaches us electronic field production or EFP for short. peter warren has invented many things for the television industry, but his most popular would probably be the warren dolly. he's a total genius and he loves working in the industry and i love how passionate he is because it keeps me motivated.

on wednesdays we have michel. he 'teaches' us studio production. we don't call him uncle.
on wednesdays we have two half hour shows to produce. SO much prep goes into these shows. we basically have a whole week to prepare two shows. it's quite hectic. anyway, it's more of a self directed learning class, so he only shows up while we're taping the shows and at the end when we screen them so he can critique them.

after michel we have dan. he teaches writing for film and television. we also don't call him 'uncle' because it's only an elective class.
he wrote a popular kids television show "the raccoons". it is highly possible you will only know of this show if you're canadian, so don't fret. it was a wicked kids show though :]
i've learned a lot about scripts and how a show idea comes together. next semester we get to write a whole movie script, so i'm really excited about that. i already have an idea in mind!

i don't have class on thursdays.

on fridays i have leigh chapple (left) . you might know her from such things as the 11:30 news on CTV ottawa. yeah, she's the news anchor on the late news on CTV in ottawa. so thats cool too. she teaches news production. it's only half a semester (my class got the second half) so we had our first class last week and this friday will be our first news show. so i hope that goes well, even though i can't stand the news.

and thats basically my week, except now imagine that every spare moment i have is spent editing, doing homework, prepping shows, and going out on shoots. i love it though. it's absolutely amazing.

once i graduate i'll be moving out too. which is ace, because i've never had a bedroom to myself. i've always had to share with my younger sister.

also, i'm in love

Hey, why'd you take down that last piece you posted. The thumbnail had me intrigued.

How are things going with school?
oh, well i took it down....because. i dunno. it was an experiment, and it's nothing fancy or anything.

i guess if you're interested, i'll put it back up.

school is good. i graduate in less than a month. right now things are crazy though. our teachers really give us a lot to do and expect us to give them great results, but we're all dead tired. reading week wasn't even a good break, we were at school the whole time, working on projects.

how are you?

--
Wow, graduating already. Didn't you just start? I'm sure it doesn't feel that way to you!

I'm doing alright. Still not working but there are some prospects on the horizon so hopefully something pans out soon enough. On the bright side, the weather is turning to gorgeous! :)
well, it's weird, because it doesn't feel like we've been there for that long, but we're always busy and have lots to do.

agreed. the weather is amazing. i can't wait to sit outside on my back deck and enjoy the sun!

Hi there! If you're not too busy with college and want to join another Ottawa club, come by and check things out. :)
